Bellevue Children’s Academy (PK-4) & Willows Preparatory School (5-12) is a private school for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade with an enrollment of more than 850 students. We offer an individualized and coordinated IB curriculum PK-12 with an emphasis on core academic subjects. Our students are academically advanced, working one to two grade levels ahead of state expectations. Our curriculum is set against international standards, not state standards, further preparing our children to be dynamic and advanced thinkers and learners. Our class sizes are small and do not exceed 15 students. BCA/WPS is a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a consortium of 50 high performing international schools located across the globe.

Purpose of Role

The Facilities Technician (full-time position) assists with aspects of the school’s facilities management function to include: upgrade, modernization, maintenance, safety and repair of existing facilities; maintenance, custodial and grounds operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Facilities Manager on event coordination.
  • Inspect school facilities for the purpose of ensuring that all facilities are suitable for safe operations and maintained in an attractive and clean condition.
  • Plan, schedule, and/or perform preventative and ongoing maintenance tasks for the purpose of ensuring equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Plans, schedules and assigns employees to various cleaning, maintenance, repair, renovation and building safety tasks.
  • Plans, coordinates and conducts periodic inspections of all facilities required by local, state or federal law such as fire inspections, asbestos inspections, insurance safety inspections and annual health inspections of all school facilities as required.
  • Makes determinations about scope of maintenance and/or repair activities and decides which can be accomplished by in-house maintenance staff and which are to be contracted out.
  • Inspects work performed by custodial or maintenance employees or private contractors to ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, repair and grounds keeping procedures are being followed, checks for safety and health hazards, and makes recommendations for correction and improvements.

Experience and Requirements

  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery, power equipment used in performing essential functions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and efficiently complete all activities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to interact/communicate with all types of members of the community including teachers, administrators, parents and students.
  • Self-starter, ability to set and meet goals, and a desire to excel.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to withstand a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
