We are looking to expand our Marketing team and we are seeking a confident and motivated Marketing and Communications Officer to help us tell our remarkable story.

Claremont is a happy, successful and forward-thinking independent school offering a unique learning environment for children aged 1 to 18 years.  We have approximately 700 students to include a vibrant community of over 100 boarders from the UK and other countries around the world.  Judged by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas in March 2019 and winner of the Independent School of the Year 2021/22 for Performing Arts, Claremont is a thriving school with a unique atmosphere, welcoming students from all walks of life.

Role
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the successful candidate will have a passion and talent for marketing using digital channels and social media platforms.  They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a good nose for a story and creative flair. Flexibility and the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines are essential for this role as are excellent copywriting, editing and proofing skills and confidence working autonomously as well as part of a team.  Knowledge of content management systems, customer relationship marketing and working with websites and developers would be an advantage.  Whilst some experience of working in an educational environment would also be an advantage, it is more important that the successful candidate can demonstrate the required attributes, skills and experience.  

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with teachers and staff to identify opportunities for engaging news stories that are ‘on brand’ for promotion via our website and social media channels. 
  • Write, commission edit and upload news content to the website and to the School’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter feeds and Youtube channel.
  • Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to develop and maintain website content to ensure it is always fresh, comprehensive, up-to-date and focused on evidencing the School’s mission, vision, values and USPs.
  • Assist the Head of Marketing and Communications with the management of promotional content on Hubspot
  • Manage the production of the Termly Review magazine by commissioning, collating, editing, and proofreading content.
  • Collate updates from Heads of department for student and parent handbooks
  • Draft regular press releases on school activities, events and pupil achievements, in consultation with the Head of Marketing and Communications and to submit to appropriate channels.
  • Liaise with local and national newspapers, magazines and appropriate specialist publications for advertising and editorial opportunities.
  • Liaise with media production departments and in-house designer to ensure print and digital copy is supplied on spec and on time.
  • Liaise with marketing leads at feeder schools and provide appropriate updates on senior school news to ensure Claremont’s place on the Senior School Fair circuit. 

 Requirements

  • Marketing and communications experience 
  • An understanding of and a confident user of a wide range of social media including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Experience of writing for different audiences for a variety of different media, including print and digital. 
  • High standards of written communication, grammar and spelling
  • Computer proficiency including Word and Excel 
  • Keen eye for detail and high level of accuracy, with a commitment to quality
  • Ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Driving Licence
  • Degree in marketing related field/marketing qualification preferred

This is a permanent, part-time role (working approximately 25 hours per week) that offers flexibility and a competitive salary dependent on experience. Deadline for applications is Friday, August 19th.
