Claremont School is a co-educational, independent day and boarding school for children aged 1 to 18.

Our 700 students community includes 100 boarders from the UK as well as other

countries around the world, adding an important international and multicultural dimension to the school. As a non-selective school, Claremont is thriving in terms of examination results, enrichment, art, musical and sporting achievement.

We are seeking an enthusiastic House Parent for one of our two boarding houses, Pyke House, situated in the historical town of Battle in East Sussex, to start in January 2023.

The role of House Parent is a highly fulfilling role. The successful candidate will have a passion for boarding and school life as a whole. The successful candidate will be well-qualified with suitable pastoral experience. They will lead a team of staff who are committed to the well-being of students in their care.

The position will suit someone with experience of working in a boarding environment and will require teamwork, flexibility, compassion, resilience and a good sense of humour. The ethos of boarding at Claremont is to provide a home-from-home feel and that of a large extended family. With that in mind, our two boarding houses are situated off-site to allow boarders to enjoy the benefit of leaving school every day, returning to a home environment. Every boarder is encouraged to develop their full potential in all areas of life and one of Claremont’s many strengths is its broad co-curricular programme.

In September 2021, Claremont School underwent a full boarding, welfare and care Ofsted inspection, achieving an Outstanding overall judgement. This accompanies the full school Ofsted inspection, conducted in April 2019, where Claremont attained an ‘Outstanding’ rating in all areas. Therefore, you will be joining an established team, operating to the highest standards of education and care.

This is a full-time, residential position during term time and accommodation is suitable for one person. Salary commensurate with experience.

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.   All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years employment history.
