Primary Teacher from 1st January 2023

The British School of Geneva (a member school of The International School Partnership), seeks a full-time Primary Teacher with effect from January 2023. To be eligible to apply for this position you will need to already have the right to work in Switzerland or be an EU citizen and should live within easy commuting distance to ensure daily attendance for an 08.00AM start

ROLE

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly capable and appropriately qualified Primary Teacher to join our Primary Team from January 2023. The ideal candidate will be able to teach classes from Reception to Year 6.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspire our students with best standard teaching and professionalism ensuring the school objectives of Amazing Student Learning, Continual Improvement and commitment to the Good Struggle of Learning is provided each day for each student in your care.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of pastoral care are provided to each student so that students feel safe, secure and experience a sense of belonging within the British School of Geneva community.
  • Teach the subjects assigned to you, making effective use of resources, and securing the best possible standards of learning and achievement.  
  • Maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, in accordance with the School's  behaviour policy, and have due regard for their welfare, health and safety.  
  • Maintain a productive learning environment by employing good classroom techniques and management skills.  
  • Carry out administrative and supervisory duties efficiently and conscientiously.  
  • Act in accordance with the policies of the School and in particular with the principles laid down in the Staff Handbook, Staff Code of Conduct, ICT Acceptable Use Policy and Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We keep an open mind in the consideration of any applicant who believes they have something special and valuable to contribute.

Essential  

  • Hold a valid work permit for Switzerland (permis B, C, G) or be of Swiss nationality.
  • Appropriate primary teaching qualification – Bachelor of Education, PGCE or equivalent.
  • Live in the Geneva area (this includes neighbouring France and Vaud) within commuting distance of the school.
  • Experience of teaching in a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of the UK National Curriculum.  
  • Experience of teaching children from Reception to Year 6 (EYFS to Upper KS2).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.  
  • Be available to take on last minute, part-time, cover with short notice.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and colleagues and to work as part of a collaborative team.

Desirable  

  • Qualified teacher status 
  • Good IT skills
  • Bilingual English and French
