description - Mathematics Teacher.

For all staff in school we share a responsibility to ensure that children are safe and properly supervised at all times. Our school vision statement references ‘amazing learning’- as such we all commit to promoting the 4 Cs – courtesy, consideration, co-operation and common sense.

We are seeking a creative and innovative teacher of Mathematics, who can continue to develop the department on its journey to becoming outstanding.

 

Within a small department you would be asked to teach Mathematics to children in Year 7, 8 and 9 (6 small classes in total) alongside being a form tutor. We place a heavy emphasis on personalising the learning for our students in order for them to reach their potential, whilst being engaged and having fun during their time at Aspen Heights.  We involve our community in order to help us to cater to the holistic needs of our children.

 

When distance learning was introduced our children were already fluent in using Google Classroom, as this is the tool we have always used for homework in secondary. Therefore, we would train you in using this platform if you are not already familiar with it.

Core purposes:

-          To be accountable for ensuring that children are inspired motivated and equipped to make as much progress with their learning as possible and as independently as possible.

-          To work closely with colleagues and support the work of the team.

-          To have a positive impact on the work of the school e.g. through subject leadership and extra-curricular activities.

-          To construct an appropriate personal relationship with tutees and mentor them to ensure that they make personal and academic progress.

 

Key duties include:

-          Delivery of our amazing learning policy.

-          Sharing planning and resources, ensuring effective communication and directing the work of others, as appropriate.

-          Carrying out the role of a subject leader, planning and leading extra-curricular activities, participating and leading staff training and contributing to the development and further improvement of the school community.

-          To comply with our agreed policies, including the professional code of conduct, teacher standards, and ICT acceptable use policy.

-          To actively engage with our school community e.g. through newsletters, informal dialogue, reporting, supporting school functions and contributing to community activities.

-          To actively participate in the performance management process of self and others.

 

Support provided includes:

 

Weekly team meetings with the phase to share good practice and planning for the coming week.

Weekly training to support areas of school development.

Line management and performance management.

Observations

Induction programme based on job description- weekly review with line manager on progress towards achieving key duties.
