Purpose of Role

We are looking for suitably qualified, inspirational and experienced Assistant Head of Primary to join our forward thinking and dynamic teaching team that provides quality teaching and learning for our students – commencing August 2023.

ISP Assistant Head of Primary Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Head of School to contribute to a strategic view for the school
  • To support and promote the school’s vision and mission and core values in order to promote the welfare, progress and continued development of the school and its students.
  • To model, promote and support being self-reflective and self-improving.
  • To teach pupils (as required) in all aspects of the agreed school curriculum
  • Working with the Assistant Head of School (Curriculum) to review student progress
  • To liaise regularly with the Head of Learning Support to ensure students with additional needs are supported
  • Supporting the Head of School in working through the LIP and taking steps to improve identified areas.
  • Demonstrating high standards of personal integrity, loyalty, discretion, and professionalism
  • Supporting the professional development of teachers
  • Participating in the school’s marketing and outreach initiatives

Key responsibilities and duties of Assessment Lead:

  • To review and improve our assessment procedures and tracking
  • To identify intervention for different groups based on data and pupil progress meetings.
  • To create moderation to ensure whole school accuracy with data.
  • To monitor and track interventions to “narrow the gap” and ensure that all children make good progress

 Key responsibilities and duties of a Subject Leader:

  • To lead, co-ordinate and manage effective learning across the school
  • To lead, develop and manage the curriculum across the school
  • To monitor and review impact and identify areas for development across the school
  • To liaise with stakeholders as appropriate to support student achievement
  • To have pupil progress meetings for core subjects
  • To manage and develop systems for monitoring pupil concerns and needs at the relevant year group
  • To deliver CPD to support teachers based on learning visits to support our students being in a good struggle.

 Key responsibilities of Teaching:

  • To teach children in the Primary age range, catering for the ability and the aptitude of all children within classes, through effective planning, preparation of lessons, marking of work and on-going assessment
  • To liaise with parents/carers, providing them with regular updates on their child’s learning and progress

 Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Appropriate degree and teaching qualification e.g. Bachelor’s Degree with teaching qualification, PGCE/Diploma in Education OR relevant degree.
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience required preferably in an international school context covering International Primary Curriculum.
  • Creative, inspiring, patient, resourceful and energetic.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
  • Highly responsible, dedicated, hardworking and a team-player.
  • Reflective individual who is committed to life-long learning and development.
  • Experience teaching students with English as an additional language.

 

Interview

Initial interviews will be completed through Zoom. Final interviews will be carried out face-to-face whenever possible.

Shortlisting

Shortlisting will be finalised on Friday March 17th 2023 and applicants will be advised whether they have been shortlisted by Tuesday March 21st 2023.

 Final Interviews

The selection process will be discussed with the shortlisted candidates.  Candidates may be asked to undertake a practical task related to the knowledge and abilities in the Person Specification.

We are intending to interview for the post during week beginning March 23rd 2023.

 Notification of outcome

Shortlisted candidates will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible following the process.

 Feedback

Unsuccessful shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity for professional feedback during the week following the interviews.

 Taking up post

The successful candidate will take up post on August 23rd 2023 – induction for new staff arriving in Malaysia will commence from Thursday 17th August 2023.
