Preamble

a teacher with a desire to make a difference to the lives of young people, ideally with evidence of
outstanding teaching and learning. Candidates should have a clear and good understanding of current
educational issues, theory, and practice, including sound subject knowledge. A commitment to teaching

Full responsibility for English Language teaching and assimilation into the mainstream curriculum
for EAL students having little English Language Skills
Work closely with parents, class and subject teachers to continuously support the English needs
of EAL students

Successfully write and implement EAL Teaching and improvement/development plans
Analyse assessment data to measure EAL students’ progress
Be a positive role model in terms of behaviour, work, and attitudes.
Set high standards of work and behaviour in the class and all other areas of the school.
Plan for progression across the age and ability range you teach, designing effective
lessons/programmes of work in accordance with the needs of individual learners.
Teach challenging, well organised lessons, using an appropriate range of teaching strategies which
meet individual learners’ needs.
Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies as a
basis for setting challenging learning objectives and monitoring learners’ progress and levels of
attainment.
