Description
Laude San Pedro International College is seeking to appoint an inspirational, committed and passionate Secondary School teacher of Mathematics, up to and including A-Level courses, for September 2023. The successful candidate will join our experienced and dynamic Mathematics department, who deliver an outstanding learning experience which goes well beyond the classroom.
Our aim is to enable every child to achieve more than they dreamed possible, in a happy and inclusive environment where everyone is supported and encouraged to excel.
The Mathematics department consists of a team of highly experienced teachers delivering Mathematics as a core subject in Key Stage 3 and 4 and as a popular International A Level in Sixth Form. Prospective candidates will have the unique opportunity to assist the growth of the Maths department, ideally by delivering the International Further Maths syllabuses in iGCSE and iAL, as some classes in Key Stage 3.
Our department is characterised by a strong sense of collaboration and enthusiasm for their subjects and students. Members of the department have an excellent working relationship, which is extended to staff from other departments. The department’s main aim is to achieve the highest possible standards for all students, according to their individual abilities, and your role will form an integral part of this framework.
The ideal candidate will have taught the Pearson International scheme of learning with knowledge of Mastery Mathematics to aid teaching and learning. The international scheme is carried from Key stage 3 to Key stage 5. Our students enjoy our online Sparx Maths homework platform and practise key skills learnt in class at home and in our lunch club. Teachers are expected to set homework on the platform once a week and recognise strengths and weaknesses from the results of the automatic marking.
The department is passionate about our subject, ensuring that we celebrate Pi day, with cross curriculum events and activities, run chess competitions and clubs as well as the UKMT challenge for our students.
The department is proud of their exam results in June 2022, with 64% A*-B at A Level and 100% pass rate for Further Mathematics.
Currently we have a quarter of our GCSE students taking Further Mathematics and just over a third of our A Level students taking Further Maths A Level. These bright and gifted young adults have applied to do a range of apirational degrees at university, including Medicine, Aeronautical Engineering and Astrology with Astrophysics.
Preparing all of our students to be digital citizens, the ideal candidate will also have the opportunity to work in the ICT department at Key Stage 3. ICT and computing is a thriving department and forms a vital part in every pupil's development.
With three dedicated IT rooms, students at Key Stage 3 learn from a variety of IT topics, such as desktop publishing, modelling, robotics, emerging technologies, programming and data analysis. Students also practise game making as well as website and app building.
Do you have what it takes to nurture a young mathematically minded student to help them on their journey?
