Job title: Summer Camp Activity Leader

Reporting to: Summer School Coordinator/ Activity Manager

 

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects  all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering  the  previous  10  years  employment history. We will also request satisfactory references covering previous employment.

JOB SUMMARY

Activity Leaders ensure that international students grow in confidence, learn new skills and have a great time during the Summer Camp. Activity leaders are responsible for planning, leading and assisting with a wide range of activities, including: arts & crafts, sports, dance, drama, film-making, cooking, coding, team challenges, talent shows etc. We are looking for people with strong leadership skills to ensure a safe, fun and well-balanced activity programme. Activity Leaders will supervise students on excursions and provide high-quality care and welfare to the students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Activities

        To deliver a high quality activities programme, where students experience a wide range of experiences that challenge and empower them, leaving them with great memories and amazing experiences.

        To plan, prepare and deliver an activities programme that is diverse and enriching, to include, amongst other things: sports, arts, dance, drama, cooking, team challenges & adventure activities.

        To lead and assist students on day excursions, being responsible for their safety and well-being.

 

Leadership and Management

To work with the Summer School Coordinator/ Activity Manager to ensure the following elements of the Summer Camp are run to the highest standards:

        Pupil Welfare.

        Student registration and attendance.

        Health and Safety, including working with the nurse.

        Communication.

        Student Management - alongside the Summer School Coordinator/ Activity Manager.

        Safeguarding.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

 

        Native level of English (some Spanish desirable).

        Ability to confidently and independently lead sessions in a variety of activities, e.g. sports, art, dance, drama, music, photography.

        Effectively be able to supervise and motivate groups of children/teenagers in a professional capacity.

        Very good interpersonal skills and genuinely enjoy working with young people.

        Provide a clear and accurate model of the English language.

        Capacity to work alongside colleagues, contributing effectively to a team.

        Confident in leading groups and speaking in front of people.

        Resourceful and can use initiative to solve issues.

        Open to receiving feedback and want to develop new skills.

        Committed to safeguarding children and to ensuring their safety and welfare is the priority.

        Creative, energetic and fun.

        Flexible, positive and a “can-do” attitude to work.

        Excellent student management skills and able to follow the school’s disciplinary code.

IMPORTANT: Applicant must have right to work in Spain at the beginning of the activities. Due to the nature and length of the contract, the school cannot accept applications from candidates with no visa or right to work in Spain.

Desirable:

        Similar summer camp/ summer school experience in an educational environment.

        Teaching/ coaching qualifications.
