ISP IT Assistant Role Profile
Purpose of Role
The IT Assistant is responsible for supporting the IT Manager in the management and control of the school’s Information Technology infrastructure, including virtual environments, databases, server facilities, networks, staffing and training. The post holder is expected to support the maintenance and development of an efficient ICT infrastructure, including the deployment of ICT resources.

ISP IT Assistant Key Responsibilities
Systems and Networks
- Assist in standardizing the topologies, hardware and network implementations across the school
- Support the standardizing of the wireless networks, considering the school’s needs and providing coverage in all the teaching and working spaces
- Managing and supporting the school’s management information system Engage. Assisting in the setup of inexperienced users, training and general day to day support of Engage
- Setting up emails and user profiles for all staff
- Assisting in the implementation of virtual services and environments for hosting network servers and operating systems to ensure reducing hardware and running costs and improving maintenance tasks, performance and troubleshooting
- Managing and supporting the schools VoIP telephony system & email system
- Technical support in the managing the school website
Security and Compliance
- Ensuring procedures and policies regarding the data backups and their recovery for the school are followed. Defining disaster recovery strategy, documenting and testing
- Assisting in setting up the appropriate firewall systems and web filters at the school to guarantee a safe internet access to the students
- Monitoring the IT usage policy at the school, which includes email policy, internet policy and hardware usage policy
ICT Support
- Support staff and students alike with any IT issues or support requirements that arise
- Coaching, mentoring and developing the skills of the IT support at all levels in the school
- Standardizing the way, IT issues and problems are managed in the school. Defining the service support function within the school and agree SLA’s
General
- Accounting for all the IT equipment (software and hardware) at the school by recording a full inventory of assets
- Ensuring policies and procedures for new and old equipment being used in the school are followed
- Providing feedback on regular research and test modern technologies that could support improvement in the school. Ensuring the systems in place are fit for purpose and offering the school best value
- Playback school buses CCTV recordings if requested by management
Health and Safety
- Emphasizes the importance of safety in all areas of the curriculum, communicating to the pupils the importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safety, the safety of others and respect for The Hamilton International School’s property and equipment
- Perform playground duties on time and with due diligence to safeguard Hamilton students
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
- Ensure that, all the necessary health and safety rules and procedures are being followed
- Maintain an awareness of all the health and safety measures to be taken when in school
Other duties and responsibilities
Any other duties that the Principal may from time to time ask the post-holder to perform
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s in relevant discipline or IT Professional Certifications (ITIL, Cisco and Microsoft certification)
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience, working in education highly advantageous
Language:
- English is mandatory
- Arabic is an advantage
