Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work on a 1-2-1 basis with students,with any significant mental health challenges, across the school
- Provide a service to ensure the full potential of new students and those already enrolled.
- Build tools to support administrative staff, teachers, parents and others, towards meeting the diverse educational and emotional needs of students enrolled.
- Encourage the process of identifying opportunities and needs of psycho educational services to new enrolled children.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Student Attention
- Based on the review results of the evaluation to each student, the role holder suggests the acceptance or rejection of the applicant and integrates the information in the files
- Keeps the Academic Heads of each section updated on the decisions taken and proposals for special cases.
- Where necessary, the post holder does the return of the results to parents and, if required, makes referral to appropriate specialists.
- Attention to special emotional situations (e.g. deaths, family conflicts, conflicts with peers and events that impact the emotional state of the students).
- Group attention to special social and emotional situations.
- Follow up and coordination of external therapists and other experts that work with students.
- Makes classroom observations.
- In Senior Years, act as a support and guidance for tutors and members of the team, in the PSHE programme. Provides the activities that are necessary to ensure the students' skills for learning.
- Keeps organised and updated student records. (Paper and computer based)
Parents
- Meetings with parents, related to the social and emotional status of students and family members supported by Academic Heads if necessary.
- Arranges a Parent Conferences/Workshops Programme
- Organise topics and speakers.
- Prepare the calendar.
- Call for the design and delivery of promotion with the Head of Marketing
- Ensure each conference’s sound organization.
General Topics
- Participate in meetings with the Head of Sections and Principal if required.
- Support Heads of Section in special events and situations.
- Keep the information pertinent to the Student Support Department organized and up to date on Rediker.
- Support staff needs for equipment, programmes and other materials.
- Weekly follow-up Student Support staff meetings.
- Ongoing research on projects and programmess that can contribute to the objectives of the school
- Participate in conferences as required
LINE OF AUTHORITY
Directly reports to the Academic Heads, DSL and the Principal.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
Essential:
- B.A. In Psychology or related field
- Proficient level of English and Spanish
- Flexible, positive and “can-do” attitude to work
- Successful relevant experience as a School Counsellor/psychologist
- Full understanding of Equal Opportunities and able to implement it in everyday practice.
- To have excellent management skills and to be able to follow the school’s disciplinary code and policies.
Desirable:
- Master’s Degree in a clinical area (Systemic Family Therapy or similar)
- Similar experience in a business or academic environment.
