ISP Power BI Developer

 

Purpose of Role

 

This role is responsible for creating and reviewing, maintaining, and optimizing existing   reports and data models using Microsoft Power BI.

This role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to bring group-wide performance/progress data to life, ensuring it is fit for purpose against a backdrop of an increasing number of schools and evolving business intelligence requirements. This is a hybrid role, working two days a week from our Wimbledon office.

ISP Power BI Developer Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reports and data models in Power BI.
  • Ensure data requirements are clearly and consistently defined and understood and the process for doing so is consistent with other business requirements.
  • Identify the relevant business processes and associated data sources relevant for meeting data requirements and work with the BI team and Lead Data Engineer to ensure organisational discipline around data capture.
  • Create and optimize data models within Power BI to ensure efficient data retrieval and performance, which may involve reviewing and improving existing Power BI data models.
  • Create wireframes and lead the design of business intelligence reports and dashboards relevant for end users.
  • Ensure that KPIs (Data Points) and reports are well documented and understood by the wider business.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency through QA and UAT on reports and models developed by third parties.

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree level in a numerate subject (e.g. Maths, Statistics, Economics, Operational Research or Computer Science) 
  • Certified in Power BI Data Analyst Associate – PL300
  • 5+ years proven experience in developing Power BI reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI Desktop, Power Query,DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), and Power BI Service.
  • Experience of using external Power BI tools such as Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data transformation.
  • Experience with data visualization best practices and principles.
  • Experience in working in teams using CICD and multiple development environments.
  • Experience in setting standards surrounding the use of data to create business intelligence that leads to insight, decision making and action.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in collaborating with senior business leaders and functional / regional heads to translate business requirements into tangible data solutions.
  • An understanding of SQL/database management.
  • Exposure to DevOps and Databricks.
  • Experience in creating notebooks/views in Databricks to create datasets that are ready for reporting.
