Teacher Job Description  

TITLE: Secondary PE Teacher  

JOB GOAL:  

Responsible for planning, teaching, and evaluating physical education programs for  

students in a school setting. This role aims to promote physical fitness, healthy  

habits, and the development of physical skills. The PE Teacher fosters a positive and  

inclusive environment that encourages students to participate in various physical  

activities and sports.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education /Certification  


Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.  

Previous teaching experience preferred.  

Skills & Abilities  

Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports, and fitness.  
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  

Ability to motivate and inspire students to participate in physical activities.  

Strong organizational and time management skills.  

Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.  

Commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.  

REPORTS TO: Deputy (School Principal)  

SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT NECESSARILY  

LIMITED TO:  




Planning and Instruction  

Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum  

aligned with school and state standards.  

Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate PE lessons for students.  

Use a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet the diverse  

needs of students.  

Integrate health and wellness education into the PE curriculum.  

Classroom Management  

Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.  

Enforce rules and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.  

Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes cooperation and respect  

among students.  

Assessment and Evaluation  

Assess and evaluate students' physical abilities, skills, and progress.  

Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their physical  

fitness and skills.  

Maintain accurate records of students' performance and progress.  

Extracurricular Activities  

Organize and supervise extracurricular sports programs, clubs, and events.  

Coach and mentor students in various sports and physical activities.  

Encourage student participation in school and community sports events.  

Professional Development  

Stay updated with current trends and best practices in physical education and  

health.  

Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and training  

sessions.  

Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school-wide initiatives and  

meetings.  

Communication and Collaboration  

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about students' progress  

and well-being.  

Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support students'  

overall development.  



Promote the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle within the  

school community.

EVALUATION: The basis of the evaluation will be the extent to which the performance  

responsibilities of the job are successfully completed and the extent to which yearly job  

goals are met. The Deputy or School Principal will perform the evaluation.
