Job Scope

        To ensure the vision for the school is clearly articulated, shared, understood and acted upon effectively by all.

        To have a ‘can do’ attitude that brings energy and enthusiasm to the post and is a positive role model for other staff in school. 

        To contribute to a positive, supportive and challenging partnership that enhances the strategic development of the school. 

        To work within the school and community to translate the vision into agreed objectives and operational plans which will promote and sustain school improvement. 

        To demonstrate the vision and values in everyday work and practice. 

        To motivate and work with others to create a shared, forward-looking culture and positive climate. 

        To ensure creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate new technologies to achieve excellence.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 

This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.

Teaching and learning/pastoral care:

       Delivering lesson for the given subject(s) with excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject/year group

       Outstanding knowledge of how to best equip students with the skills to achieve their potential

       Being able to create and nature a warm, caring, but academically driven classroom environment

       Be a class teacher to a given class, where they know and care for the wellbeing, academic and extracurricular success of each of their students

       Offering impeccable safeguarding and child protection to every student in the school

       Create and add to the teams lesson resources, ensure the resources are tailored to the classes that you teach

       Track students progress and apply internal and external to their planning for each of their lessons

       To report on student’s progress throughout the year, via physical reports and parents evenings

       Offering personalised challenge and tailoring planning in order to best meet the needs and data of their class

       Taking responsibility for one’s own professional development journey  Engaging in the school-wide professional development programme.

       Sharing in the pastoral responsibility for all pupils in the school and especially for those in the teacher’s tutor group.

       Conducting break time/ lunch time duties and covering for absent colleagues

       Maintaining a positive physical learning environment, including classroom displays

       Attending school events and taking part in the wider school life

       Offering an extracurricular club for at least two school terms that is of a high quality

       To play their part in continually improving the school by aiding the relevant improvement plans and school improvement plan.

 

Other duties and responsibilities:

       To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people that you are responsible for, or come into contact with.

       Any other duties as assigned by the Principal/Senior leaders/Line managers

 

 

Person Specification

Qualifications and

related Experience

         Have a good honours degree.

         Hold a QTS or PGCE teaching qualification, preferably from the UK.

         Have a minimum of two years’ experience of teaching.

         Be talented and highly motivated

         Have experience teaching relevant UK curriculums

         Be willing to contribute to the development of departmental resources

         Contribute to whole school enrichment activities before or after school

         Be able to provide an ICPC and a UK enhanced DBS or equivalent police check.

         Be professional in appearance and conduct

         Be willing to contribute to the wider curriculum and support the vision of the school

        Knowledge and understanding of the relevant English National Curriculum, principles of assessment and effective record-keeping and their use to promote the educational and personal development of the students.

        A strong understanding of pedagogy and teaching and learning methods

        A strong understanding of child development and pastoral support
