High School Mathematics Teacher Role Profile
Purpose of Role
The purpose of the Mathematics Teacher role at the high school level is to deliver high-quality instruction in mathematics, fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills among students. The teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment, engaging students through effective lesson plans, and ensuring academic growth. This role also involves assessing student progress, providing timely feedback, and preparing students for higher-level studies or exams

Mathematics Teacher Key Responsibilities
Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging, clear, and effective lesson plans that cover the required mathematical concepts and curriculum standards.
Student Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess student progress through tests, assignments, and projects, providing constructive feedback to help improve performance.
Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, disciplined classroom environment where students are encouraged to actively participate and explore mathematical concepts.
Student Support: Provide additional support to students who need help, whether through one-on-one sessions or group activities, to ensure all students understand key concepts.
Preparation for Exams: Prepare students for internal and external assessments, offering guidance and revision strategies to ensure they are exam-ready.
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop, adapt, and improve the curriculum to meet the needs of all students and align with educational standards.
Use of Technology: Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience and make complex mathematical concepts more accessible.
Student Engagement: Encourage a love for mathematics by making lessons interactive, relevant, and interesting to foster student engagement and curiosity.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and assessments.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development, attending training sessions, workshops, and collaborating with colleagues to stay updated on teaching methods and curriculum change
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Must have a master's degree in mathematics
Good communication skills
Good conceptual understanding
Effective classroom management skills
Should have previous experience of teaching Mathematics in CAIE
Ability to engage the class and create a learning environment
5-7 years of teaching experience
