About BCA/WPS

Bellevue Children’s Academy (Preschool-4) & Willows Preparatory School (5-12) is a private school for children in Preschool through 12th grade with an enrollment of more than 1000 students. We offer an individualized and coordinated IB curriculum from Preschool-12 with an emphasis on core academic subjects. Our students are academically advanced, working one to two grade levels ahead of state expectations. Our curriculum is set against international standards, not state standards, further preparing our children to be dynamic and advanced thinkers and learners. Our class sizes are small and do not exceed 15 students. BCA/WPS is a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a consortium of 50 high performing international schools located across the globe.

Purpose of Role

We are looking for a detailed oriented Senior Accountant to work at Bellevue Children’s Academy located in Bellevue, WA. Under the direction of the Head of Finance for Bellevue Children’s Academy and Willows Preparatory School, the Senior Accountant will support various aspects of our accounting and reporting processes, and drive delivery of process improvements initiatives.

The Senior Accountant displays a strong sense of ownership and is fully committed to ensuring accuracy of financial data and providing finance support to school operations. In addition, this individual is team-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment and is eager to take an active role in promoting a positive culture of positive engagement and school connectedness for all employees to support the school’s aim of being the school and employer of choice.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own various components of the month-end close processes, such as journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and account and financial statement analysis.
  • Prepare, examine or analyze accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR to produce, verify and appropriately record payroll data.
  • Accurately record and reconcile bank accounts activity.
  • Capitalize and maintain Fixed Assets.
  • Appropriately and timely communicate risks or issues, and follow-up as necessary to ensure proper decision or resolution is reached to close the books each month.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
  • Participate in system implementations, migrations and automation projects.

 

Experience and Requirements

  • 5+ years of operational Accounting experience at fast-paced and/or complex company.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting.
  • Solid understanding of the concepts of control design and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated history of solving multiple complex operational and accounting challenges.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and articulate financial information appropriately based on audience.
  • Willingness to learn payroll processing as a backup.
