About the role

Mosaic school is seeking a qualified and experienced German Teacher for primary students. (10 hours a week)

Applicants must have experience in teaching German to students aged 8 to 12 and be excited by the challenge of contributing to curriculum development.

The successful applicant will be an accomplished teacher with experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching which will inspire our students. They will also understand the importance of being part of a pedagogical team.

Key Responsibilities:

As a German Teacher at Mosaic, you will have to:

• Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to up to 12 students following the DIP (Departement de l’instruction publique) curriculum.
• Review lessons and resources regularly to ensure they provide maximum engagement and clear opportunities for pupils to develop key linguistic skills and processes.
• Prepare and set tests, including a baseline assessment test at the beginning of the course.
• Maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment where students feel comfortable learning
• Any other responsibilities as requested by the pedagogical department

About You

Qualifications & Experience

• German native speaker
• Taught Primary school children aged 8 to 12
• An understanding of Swiss curriculum leading to national examinations
• Be dynamic and have an interactive approach
• Delivered lessons purely in the target language
• Be flexible to work part-time

About the Mosaic School

Mosaic School, in Geneva, Switzerland, was found in 2004, starting with 40 students aged 3 to 6, and gradually building up to reach 320 students today, with an expansion plan to reach 450 students aged 2,5 to 12 by 2025.

Mosaic is well-respected within the Swiss and international community. At Mosaic, we feel that the sooner we start preparing pupils for this, the better. Mosaic does not undertake to provide for all special educational needs, but in all grades Mosaic can provide for moderate special educational needs under the responsibility of our psychopedagogical coordinator. Mosaic School offers a bilingual program based on the Swiss curriculum and the English National Program. In order to allow each child to fully benefit from Mosaic’s bilingual program, the school has set up a compulsory language tutoring program for students from age 6 who will not have spent 3 full school years in a French / English bilingual education.

Amongst the various subject taught, drama is at the forefront: because if learning is also inventing, imagining, listening, getting rid of certainties, and risking new experiences, then theatre is truly an educational tool. Theatre classes promote self confidence and self-esteem: to dare, to risk confronting the look of others, to speak, to improvise in front on an audience, first in a group, then in pairs and finally by themselves.
